False lashes look intimidating until you've done them twice. After that? Five minutes flat. Here's the exact method that works — even for complete beginners.
What You'll Need
Before you start, get these on your vanity:
- Strip lashes (the Flutter & Glow Natural Lashes 3-Pack are perfect for beginners — natural, lightweight, and forgiving)
- Lash glue (our Lash Glue + Remover Duo comes with a precision applicator so you don't over-apply)
- Small scissors
- A mirror at eye level (not looking down — this matters)
- A clean eyelash wand or tweezers — or the Lash Applicator Wand, which is specifically designed for placing and pressing strip lashes with precision (the angled tip gets into the lash line in a way fingers never can)
Or grab the Lash Starter Bundle to get the wand and glue/remover together at a discount — everything you need for application and removal in one purchase at $18.99.
Step 1: Measure and Trim First
This is the step most beginners skip — and it's why their lashes look wrong.
Hold the lash strip up to your eye BEFORE applying any glue. The lash should start where your natural lash line starts (not at your inner corner — that's way too dramatic for everyday wear) and end at the outer corner.
If it's too long, trim from the OUTER end, not the inner. Use small, sharp scissors and make one clean cut. A millimeter off makes a huge difference.
Step 2: Apply Glue and Wait 30 Seconds
Apply a thin line of glue along the lash band. Thin line. Not a blob.
Here's the part no one tells you: wait 30 seconds before applying. The glue needs to get tacky first. If you put it on wet, it slides everywhere. Count to 30, then proceed.
Step 3: Look Down, Not Straight Ahead
Place your mirror flat on the counter or table and look DOWN at it. This exposes your entire lash line in a way that a mirror on the wall never will.
Bring the lash strip in from above (not from the side), center it over your pupil first, then press down the outer corner, then the inner corner.
Step 4: Press and Hold
Once it's placed, use the handle of your tweezers or the tip of your finger to press the band against your natural lash line for 10-15 seconds. Pay extra attention to the inner and outer corners — those are where lashes lift first.
Step 5: Seal and Blend
Once the glue is dry, press your natural lashes and the false lash together using your fingers or a lash wand. If you're wearing mascara, apply it BEFORE the false lashes — this helps your natural lashes blend seamlessly with the strip.
A thin line of black eyeliner along the band covers any gaps and makes the whole look appear seamless.
Common Mistakes (and How to Fix Them)
The lash is lifting at the corner: The glue wasn't tacky enough when you applied it, or you didn't press long enough. Press and hold again — the glue is usually still workable for a few minutes.
It looks obviously fake: The lash is probably too long or too full for your eye shape. Trim more from the outer end and try a more natural style. The Flutter & Glow Natural Lashes 3-Pack are specifically designed to look real.
The inner corner keeps poking me: A tiny dot of extra glue on the inner corner and 15 seconds of pressure usually fixes this permanently.
It went on crooked: Gently peel it off while the glue is still soft, re-apply a small amount of glue, wait 30 seconds, and retry. This is why cheaper glues are frustrating — the Lash Glue in our Lash Glue + Remover Duo is repositionable in the first few minutes.
Removing False Lashes (Do This Right)
Don't just rip them off — you'll pull out your natural lashes.
Saturate a cotton pad with your lash glue remover. Press it against the lash band for 15-20 seconds to dissolve the glue. Then gently slide the lash strip off from the outer corner inward.
The Flutter & Glow Lash Glue + Remover Duo includes both products — the glue for application and the oil-free remover for gentle removal without damaging your natural lashes.
